Requirements

  • Fluency in the UK curriculum and exam boards (if applicable)
  • At least 1 year teaching and/or tutoring experience
  • Current Enhanced DBS (you can apply through us)
  • Ability to tutor effectively online
  • Confident with 1:1 tutoring

FAQ for Tutors

  • Are you an agency?

    Yes and no! I don't advertise as an agency as I'm actively tutoring. However, I've been fully booked for a couple of years and traditionally, parents join my waiting list.

    Instead of that being their only option, I now offer them an English tutor who I can vouch for, while taking responsibility for their satisfaction.

  • What are the benefits of working in your team?

    When you join the team, you will have complete flexibility. You can dictate your availability and decide which jobs to take.

    You don't have to do any marketing or admin outside of teaching and scheduling lessons - I'll take care of that.

    And you're guaranteed payment for lessons completed and last-minute cancellations as per the terms that parents agree to.

    Finally, I know the importance of feeling supported, so you'll have access to teaching resources you can use and adapt., as well as, access to CPD.

  • Do you provide resources and training?

    Yes - to both.

    Every tutor I work with has access to a range of teaching resources.

    When you join the team, part of the onboarding includes training on systems and processes according to your needs.

    And we have a group chat, where you dictate the CPD you would like.

  • Can I decide how much to charge?

    Yes, of course. However, each job will be presented to you with details about student needs and a fixed fee.

    It is always up to you whether or not you wish to accept the job.

  • Can I continue running my tutoring business while working with you?

    Yes - use me as your diary filler if you wish!

    All the tutors who work with me, do so on a freelance basis.

    That means that when they work with my clients, they represent The Upgrade Project, not their businesses.

    But they do not have to work exclusively with my clients.
